VET Certificate II & III in Applied Language (Russian) for Year 9–11 students, delivered in partnership with Ripponlea Institute. Face-to-face in Elwood, aligned to CEFR and ISLPR.

Two accredited qualifications, delivered in schools.
Since 2025, Pushkin Lyceum in partnership with Ripponlea Institute has delivered two accredited qualifications as VET delivered to secondary school students (VET in Schools).
Certificate II in Applied Language (Russian)
“Social” units — elementary to pre-intermediate.
Certificate III in Applied Language (Russian)
“Workplace” units — intermediate to upper-intermediate.
Both qualifications are nationally recognised and aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) and the International Second Language Proficiency Rating (ISLPR). Delivered 2025–2027 as a VET pathway for Year 9 and Year 11 students.
Prior study, or an assessment-only pathway.
Students undertaking the Certificate II are required to have previously studied Russian for at least one year. Successful completion of the Certificate II is an entry requirement for the Certificate III.
There are also opportunities for native speakers, or students who have completed 8 grades at Russian language schools, to complete an assessment-only pathway.

Additional fees
- One-off registration for new students: $55, payable on first enrolment at Pushkin Lyceum
- Registration with Ripponlea Institute: $250 per certificate (required for Certificate II or III)
A VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence can lift your ATAR.
Students who complete a VCE VET Unit 3–4 sequence in Applied Language may receive an ATAR increment of 10% of the lowest study score of the primary four VCE subjects.

Term 1
Starting Certificate II
- Sunday class (9:30 AM – 12:40 PM)
- Homework: writing practice + app-based drills
- Practical hours: 1 hour/week for 5 weeks
Terms 2–3
Continuing Certificate II
- Sunday class — vocabulary: food, travel, family
- Homework — reading, writing and role-play
- Assessment: record a 1-minute self-introduction in Russian
Term 4
Starting Certificate III
- Sunday class — grammar drills and café role-plays
- Practical: support Russian culture poster design

Certificate III contributes 10% of your lowest VCE subject score. Certificate II does not.
Sunday attendance is required. In case of illness, self-study materials will be provided and practical hours can be rescheduled.
Yes. Upfront (5% discount), per semester (3% discount), or per term (no discount).
Late payments incur a 3% fee.

The course is primarily face-to-face, but some theory resources may be available online.
Yes. Ten tests per certificate, including oral and written assessments plus participation in practical tasks.
Note: no final exam is required.
The focus is on practical communication in everyday contexts. Prior language exposure is recommended.
The $250 enrolment fee is non-refundable. Tuition refunds depend on the timing of withdrawal (see refund policy).
